YATTON 35 WALCOT 23

YATTON recovered from a three-point deficit to beat Walcot in South West 2 West after the game was delayed due to an accident on the motorway.

Walcot overcame their hurried warm up and took the lead after 10 minutes with a Benedict Roberts penalty.

Yatton turned over the ball in the next few minutes, swift passing through the backs, and after pressure by Rhys Davies, Chris Harris, in support, made the try. John Shorney converted.

Strong scrummaging gave Yatton a superb platform and, when the forwards turned over one scrum followed by two successive scrums, Nick Garnham fed the ball from the base of the scrum to Mike Harris for the score, with Shorney adding the extras.

Shorney was again in the fold to go over for a try and add the conversion when the backs moved the ball well.

Just before half-time, again excellent turnover ball by the forwards was collected by Nick Garnham who sprinted away with Rhys Davies on his shoulder, taking the pass and returning to the scrum-half with a reverse pass for Garnham to score under the posts.

At the beginning of the second half, Walcot came back stronger and Roberts caught the home side napping, kicking an excellent ball ahead which he collected, scored the try and converted.

Scrappy play saw Yatton take two penalties and, in the last quarter, Walcot's Neil Meade scored a try in the corner after a period of strong forward play. It was converted by Roberts.
